When a software project or a website gets stuck, people almost always blame the technology. They think they picked the wrong framework, or that WordPress is slow, or that they need a brand-new tool.
In twenty years of doing this, I’ve rarely seen a project fail because of code.
It’s almost always about communication
Projects slow down because people get tired, communication breaks down, or one person is carrying the weight of the entire project in their head without support.
When only one person knows how something works, everyone else feels nervous to touch it. That creates anxiety, bottlenecks, and hesitation.
The gentle fix
The solution isn’t a shiny new tool. It’s sharing knowledge with kindness:
- Write friendly notes: Leave clear, gentle documentation so anyone can follow what you did without feeling lost.
- Encourage questions: Create an environment where asking for help is welcomed, never judged.
- Build together: When everyone understands the pieces, nobody has to carry the burden alone.
When you take care of the people and create a welcoming, collaborative environment, the technology naturally falls into place.
