When most people think of web apps, they picture a big server somewhere in the cloud doing all the heavy lifting. Every time you click a button or edit a photo, your computer has to send that file across the internet, wait for the server to process it, and send it back.

A few years ago, I started asking: why not do the work right here on your own device?

Your device is already powerful enough

Modern phones, laptops, and tablets are remarkably fast. Your web browser is fully capable of handling images, playing with sound, and crunching numbers without needing to upload your personal files to anyone else’s server.

When I built Snap Frame (my screenshot framing tool) and EQ Vid (my video sound equalizer), that was the whole idea.

When you drop an image into Snap Frame, your picture never leaves your computer. It processes instantly right on your screen. There are no server fees for me to pay, no waiting for a slow upload, and complete privacy for you.

Gentle, private, and simple

Building tools this way has three wonderful benefits:

  • Your files stay yours: Nothing is uploaded or stored on my servers. Your privacy is guaranteed by design.
  • It works instantly: No waiting for a spinning wheel while a distant server finishes processing.
  • It keeps things affordable: Because the tool runs on your computer, I don’t have to pay massive cloud server bills—which means I can keep these tools free and accessible to everyone.

It’s gentle, it’s fast, and it respects your privacy. That’s how software should be.
